S&A Generator Projects
Exceptional Generator Repairs & Maintenance
If the proof of the pudding is in the eating, then the proof of the generator maintenance provider is in its ability to perform the work it says it can. Below are a few of our recent S&A Generators projects, including descriptions of work carried out and visual comparisons. We’ll be adding more projects in the future, so keep checking in to see what we’ve been up to!
GENERATOR RADIATOR REPLACEMENT AT SUN COAST CASINO
Service Provided:
Almost the whole S&A Generators team was involved with this project for Sun Coast Casino. A large diesel generator had a dysfunctional cooling system, which is essential for keeping the generator cool during operation. The problem was that the coolant was leaking from the radiator, which was damaged. Our team, using the trusty S&A Generators crane truck, was able to replace the generator’s old radiator, and run the generator to assess its general condition.
ANNUAL SERVICE & DIESEL TANK INSTALL IN SHELLEY BEACH
Service Provided:
S&A Generators team members, Byron (technician) and Derek (Assistant), recently visited a community retail centre in Shelley Beach, KZN. The client wanted a diesel storage tank installed close to the generator. This was to ensure that the mall had power through even the longest load shedding stint – as well as to prevent constantly having to fill the generator up when the fuel runs out. The generator was also due for a major service, where the machine’s oil, filters, and coolant were replaced.
DIESEL GENERATOR REFILL IN ESCOURT
Service Provided:
On November 13th 2019, our S&A Generators fuel tank refill specialist, Blessing, was called to a client in Escourt. The client’s large generator was dangerously low on diesel, and load shedding was in effect at the time. Blessing was able to assess the situation, complete the diesel generator refilling in two hours (it was a really big tank), and left our client satisfied with a generator that was filled up, and good to see him through the load shedding season.
BUSINESS GENERATOR INSTALLATION IN THE FREE STATE
Service Provided:
This S&A Generators project took team members Roger Smith, Velani Gumede, and talented electrician, Siphelele, to the town of Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State. A new business generator installation was required for a company that suffered losses due to load shedding. This project took place in October 2019 and involved transporting the new generator across the KZN border with our trusty S&A Generators crane truck.
GENERATOR RELOCATION FROM HILTON TO WARTBURG, KZN
Service Provided:
S&A Generators team members Gorwyne, Velanie, and Siphelele worked on a generator relocation project in August of 2019 for a client in Hilton, KZN. This required decommissioning, cross-province transportation, and reconnecting of the generator. This project also required S&A Generators to build a new plinth and bung wall at the relocation site in Wartburg, KZN.
REPLACEMENT OF 11000KVA TRANSFORMER IN UMHLANGA
Service Provided:
S&A Generators, in partnership with Diesel Electric Services (DES), replaced an 11000 KVA transformer for a client in Umhlanga between 13 and 24 July 2019. This project included removing and replacing the old transformer using a crane, fitting steel gratings, securing steel support beams, and building of a new bung wall around the transformer to catch and drain any leakage.
GENERATOR SITE INSPECTION IN PORT EDWARD
Service Provided:
Gorwyne Angel, our S&A Generators Head Technician, visited a farm in Port Edward to inspect a faulty generator system. The wiring of the Generator to the building’s DB board was done incorrectly by the installer, and the generator was placed in a position that did not allow for the efficient dissipation of exhaust fumes.
MAJOR GENERATOR SERVICE
Service Provided:
In line with the recommendations of most diesel engine manufactures, a major service is recommended for every 200-250hrs running or 1 year whichever occurs first:
- Oil & Coolant Change, Changing of Filters. Setting tappets to the manufacturer’s recommendations is done after 250hrs. Clean and wash down genset and plant room, Paint and touch-up of exhaust housing.
RIGGING GENSET INTO SITE
Service Provided:
Decommissioned existing Generator & transported to new site. The Generator was rigged into position & commissioned. Work carried out included clearing palisade fencing, clearing area, lifting & re-laying pavers, mounting of change over panel, running cable ladders and cables and issuing a COC.
